Reviews & Testimonials

In my career as a professional sound engineer, I have been fortunate enough to have been involved in some interestingly complex, high profile live events. In particular, the ‘one-off’ events are the most exciting and they are of course, the most demanding.

90% of a successful production lies in the pre-production and the rest is down (in my experience) to efficient production and stage management and of course, the show book.

If all these elements are right it contributes to my ability to do my job well and for me,
the bench mark is Alex Ralls.

Alex has the experience but more importantly the ability to adapt at the turn of a cue and lead a production with solid, confident and professional skill.

Geoff Eaton,
Alex is particularly adept at the production and stage management of large scale productions, which take place in difficult locations such as Trafalgar Square and on private estates.

There are many health and safety issues involving animals, children, adverse weather and extremely complicated sound systems and Alex handles these most expertly.

Our technical and production rehearsals always run without hitch or, at least if there are any hitches, Alex resolves them quickly and efficiently – not only from a health and safety perspective but also with an understanding of production values, technical restraints and budget.

I would unhesitatingly recommend Alex as a highly competent and experienced Production Manager, particularly for large-scale events and his skill is self-evident.

Alex has proved to us that he is a very capable and competent individual. Our recent production was set to be a basic show with simple lighting and sound effects. With Alex part of the production team, the show was escalated to a new level.

Alex introduced his ideas and knowledge to the performance and together with his creative flair, turned a basic show into a performance which is now set to win an award.

The production team also included student lighting and sound technicians, which Alex managed. His additional input and training proved invaluable to these young wannabes.

Alex’s dedication and commitment to both the technical elements and to the whole team involved in the show has been inspirational. We look forward to working with Alex again on future projects.

I have worked with Alex Ralls on a range of Wintershall productions for over 20 years on events as varied as a five hour open air passion play to a black tie charity pop concert both on the Wintershall Estate in Guildford and in Trafalgar Square in central London.

Whatever event we have worked on together Alex has always produced an event of high quality and has overcome any problems not only with diplomacy but also a good sense of humour.

Alex was always there with support and advice through my A’ Level Theatre Studies. It is not only theatre knowledge I took away then, Alex also armed me with realistic expectations before I went into drama school. His passion for theatre and events inspired me that many years ago and I have no doubt it has and will continue to inspire others.

I wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you for making everything run so smoothly yesterday and for being so helpful and hospitable. Richard really enjoyed doing the event.

Alex and myself worked together on a high profile event in summer 2016. Alex took on full production management as well as stepping up to roles above and beyond his post to involve full site management. Great to see someone paying such great attention to detail to ensure the best results.
Great event & I look forward to working with Alex again!
Zac Coupe, Event Staging Systems
Alex was a complete pleasure to work with throughout the whole process of the staging of ‘Passion of Jesus 2016’ at Trafalgar Square (TSQ). Alex and his team have brought the production to TSQ for a number of years & so are well practised with all the foibles TSQ can throw up. I was very impressed with his efficiency & strict adherance to agreed deadlines. Alex clearly is a true professional in every sense & unfailingly cheerful! We could not have been more lucky with fabulous weather throughout both performances which brought huge audiences to TSQ. The lunchtime performance was in excess of 7,000 pax & the later afternoon performance approx. 8,500 pax. I look forward to the show in 2017, when I will attend as an audience member. I wish Alex & the production continued success!

Alex came to our school to support our lighting candidates prepare for their GCSE exams. He was absolutely brilliant, providing the students with clear explanations of key terminology that they were previously unsure of and lacked confidence in. He used his teaching experience and wealth of expertise in theatre production to clearly give practical guides and explanations and to provide everything the students needed from the basics of lantern types to the more creative and challenging areas of design and implementation. I was amazed at how much the students got done – everything from portfolio support, to seeing their designs through from initial concepts to completion, to completing the rigging process. All of this was done across a short time span and with Alex maintaining a calm and patient approach which meant the students were not only challenged and supported in making rapid progress, but that they also had a really enjoyable experience.

Alex Ralls Stage and Production Management has been outstanding in delivering high quality technical theatre support. The company was able to source high calibre technicians for our large scale events. They were also able to organise the hire and installation of a full scale musical theatre set at a very reasonable cost. Alex has also assisted us with technical training and career support for our technical theatre students. We look forward to further collaboration with our students in the future.
